About Joe

I’m Joe PR Guy, an expert consultant available for hire. I’m also the Founder of a new nonprofit community service called “I Should Be In The News,” or ISBITN. Prior to entering public relations I was a TV and print journalist for two fairly large U.S. markets. My expertise includes:

  • media relations
  • public affairs and public relations
  • organizational and product spokesperson
  • viral marketing
  • strategic communications
  • business-to-business communications
  • consumer focused PR
  • writing, editing, and website content generation
  • online and new media branding
  • strategic use of social media for enterprise
  • using creativity to formulate unique solutions
  • complex project management
  • donor communications and cause marketing campaigns

My personal mission statement is:

I live to share my passion as a communicator, artist, leader and friend. I strive for balance in all of the roles I play on life’s stage, directed by the principles of integrity, excellence, empowerment, enrichment, compassion and humility.

I’m a well-educated guy. I hold two bachelor of arts degrees: communication studies and performing arts, and completed graduate work in communications and business administration. I’ve also completed a variety of professional training and development programs, including the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  My long-term educational goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in communication studies.

I’ve been a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) since 2001 and won several honors from the organization.

I am also an experienced actor who loves improv comedy, an avid photographer and dog lover. I donate my time and talents to support charitable causes, including the United Way, Human Rights Campaign, United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF), Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and Share Our Strengths. Most recently, I founded I Should Be In The News, a national community service project that is now a nonprofit organization.

Most of all, I’m passionate about public relations. For examples of my work, see Ink & Air Time and PR Playbook.

Joe PR Guy is a proud member of the Phoenix chapter of the Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce.
