KTAR’s 10th Annual Radiothon Benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital, October 4th & 5th

News-Talk 92.3 KTAR and Sports 620 KTAR are holding their 2nd annual Radiothon benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital this Monday and Tuesday.

KTAR set a new record for on-air fundraising during its 2009 Radiothon, raising more than $867,000. Now in its 10th year, Radiothon is one of the hospital’s largest annual fundraisers.

KTAR’s two stations and its powerhouse website, KTAR.com will once again simulcast the event – live from Phoenix Children’s Hospital. KTAR’s sister station, The Peak and partner 12 News will also support the event. This year’s goal is to raise $1 million dollars to help patients and families.

Over the course of two days, KTAR will set up camp in the Hospital cafeteria. Talent will interview families, patients and doctors; introduce celebrities; share information about the world-class care offered at Phoenix Children’s; and, offer great prizes and incentives to donors. Donations will be accepted by volunteers on the phone bank at 602-546-KIDS (5437), online at KTAR.com and at any valley Walgreens store.

 Special Features:
New this year is the Teddy Bear Express, an on-the-hour special delivery by KTAR talent of teddy bears given in donors’ names to Phoenix Children’s patients. This year’s bear, named “Mr. Snuggle Puff” by 12 year-old patient, Cyan is given to a patient from any donor who pledges $20 a month to help the kids at Phoenix Children’s.

Also new is KTAR’s and Phoenix Children’s innovative social media support including a Wall of Caring and a viral video that can be shared at www.facebook.com/KTARPCH.

Throughout KTAR Radiothon, incentives will be offered to call-in donors such as the official 2010 KTAR Radiothon T-shirt, autographed Glenn Beck books; autographed framed Kurt Warner photos, autographed Dave Ramsey books, tickets to America’s Got Talent at Dodge Theater, gift cards to Walgreens and much more.

 Celebrities including Glenn Beck and Kurt Warner will stop by or call in.

On Monday evening, KTAR Sports personality Ron Wolfley will host a fundraising event at his new restaurant at Desert Ridge, Wolfley’s Neighborhood Grill from 5-10pm. Patrons can watch Monday Night Football while enjoying some of Wolfley’s signature dishes and drinks, with a portion of the proceeds given to Phoenix Children’s. Fooshaw T-shirts and raffle items will also raise money for the kids at Phoenix Children’s. 

This year’s KTAR Radiothon comes at an important juncture for Phoenix Children’s Hospital as its expansion nears completion and almost doubles its capacity to care for sick children. The need is great and can only be met by the ongoing support of this generous community.

Teddy Bears were donated by Walgreens, Walmart and Foresters.
